The definition of Modern Fit
As the name suggests, Modern-Fit is a modern fit. In the fashion world that means a lightly tailored garment, such as a shirt or T-shirt. Slimmer-cut shirts follow the body nicely and give your outfit a well-groomed, stylish look, while you keep enough room to move. It is therefore no surprise that Modern-Fit is the favourite of many men. The fit is especially suitable for men with an average build.
Within the range of fits, Modern-Fit sits between the roomier Regular-Fit and the slimmer Tailored-Fit. Note: brands do not all use these names in the same way, so when in doubt always check the brand's own size chart.
How do I recognise a Modern-Fit?
The easiest way is to look at the garment's label. If that is not possible, lay the shirt down flat: with a Modern-Fit the chest is wider than the stomach, with a slight curve at waist height.
